Blogland

It finally rained this weekend. Now we can fire up the smokers and get to cookin'. Both the dogs celebrated birthdays this past weekend. Sunny is one and Roxy turned three. Much has gone in the past couple of months and I've been dragging my feet updating the blog. I am looking for a new job and I think I have some really good leads. The job that seems to have the most potential is in Frisco. Hello Frisco! Tiffany's company will be moving up there in and around May of this year and we have both been discussing moving there. It would be a perfect fit if I could find a job in that area. Leaving Grapevine will be tough and leaving the house will be tough but I think the toughest part of all is leaving Bill and Debbie my neighbours. The good thing is that Debbie's daughter lives in Frisco along with the Son in Law Tony and the three grandchildren. I can't even begin to describe what a refreshing feeling it is to have a new start. I've been clamped down for years and it’s going to be nice to go somewhere else. Been planning a wedding of sorts...hard to call it that when you are already married..I've been told a re-affirmation of vows is the correct term. We will be heading to Mexico with a few family members in April and then there will be a reception in Grapevine on the 28th of April. Details to follow so stay tuned. Finally got out to see a concert this weekend for the first time in a long time. Went a saw Wade Bowen/Matt Powell...looking forward to the new album. I was beginning to wonder if Wade would ever come out with another one. He did point that out and was very appreciative to the fans for being patient. Quality over Quantity any day! Finally got to meet the girlfriend of long time single man Wayne. Got to do dinner before the show with some awesome deer steaks and then we managed to play cards till 3:00. I'm too old for that type of behavior! Oh and the Montana cou"s"hin is in town and she let loose as well. I think that mothers that are raising kids should get out more!! That was some funny stuff watching Kim on the barstool head banging! Reminded me of the old days visiting Austin when I was in high school partying with all of her college buds. Looking real forward to the Olympics coming up in February. It’s been a really exciting hockey year and I'm so glad to see all the young guys doing so well. I'm also very glad to see some of the old guys hang it up. The stars are doing a ceremony before this evening’s game against Phoenix. They will be announcing the 2007 All Star Game will be played in Dallas. They gave all the high school teams in the Metroplex free tickets and one of our kids will be skating during the ceremony. Very cool deal and another example of everything the stars have done for hockey here. It’s unbelievable. I wish I could show some fellow Canadians up north just how much hockey means in this state now. The number of rinks and teams is incredible. From High School hockey to travel teams to minor hockey. It has taken this state over. Not to the amplitude of football here but seriously our organization alone Keller has 3 teams and room for more! They pay their coaches and are all privately run by parents. They set up their own board of directors and run it just like a business. Ice time is not cheap and everything they pay for comes out of their pockets or from fundraising. No school help. Until next time...remember that a one-legged duck does swim in a circle.
