The image on the left is that of Italian Luger and I don't know his name. On the right is Marty Turco of the Dallas Stars. Saw this guy the other night after winning the gold medal and thought thats Marty Turco! Marty does have itallian roots growing up in the Soo with a name like Turco but look at the similarities! Nice helmet!

Blogland

It finally rained this weekend. Now we can fire up the smokers and get to cookin'. Both the dogs celebrated birthdays this past weekend. Sunny is one and Roxy turned three. Much has gone in the past couple of months and I've been dragging my feet updating the blog. I am looking for a new job and I think I have some really good leads. The job that seems to have the most potential is in Frisco. Hello Frisco! Tiffany's company will be moving up there in and around May of this year and we have both been discussing moving there. It would be a perfect fit if I could find a job in that area. Leaving Grapevine will be tough and leaving the house will be tough but I think the toughest part of all is leaving Bill and Debbie my neighbours. The good thing is that Debbie's daughter lives in Frisco along with the Son in Law Tony and the three grandchildren. I can't even begin to describe what a refreshing feeling it is to have a new start. I've been clamped down for years and it’s going to be nice to go somewhere else. Been planning a wedding of sorts...hard to call it that when you are already married..I've been told a re-affirmation of vows is the correct term. We will be heading to Mexico with a few family members in April and then there will be a reception in Grapevine on the 28th of April. Details to follow so stay tuned. Finally got out to see a concert this weekend for the first time in a long time. Went a saw Wade Bowen/Matt Powell...looking forward to the new album. I was beginning to wonder if Wade would ever come out with another one. He did point that out and was very appreciative to the fans for being patient. Quality over Quantity any day! Finally got to meet the girlfriend of long time single man Wayne. Got to do dinner before the show with some awesome deer steaks and then we managed to play cards till 3:00. I'm too old for that type of behavior! Oh and the Montana cou"s"hin is in town and she let loose as well. I think that mothers that are raising kids should get out more!! That was some funny stuff watching Kim on the barstool head banging! Reminded me of the old days visiting Austin when I was in high school partying with all of her college buds. Looking real forward to the Olympics coming up in February. It’s been a really exciting hockey year and I'm so glad to see all the young guys doing so well. I'm also very glad to see some of the old guys hang it up. The stars are doing a ceremony before this evening’s game against Phoenix. They will be announcing the 2007 All Star Game will be played in Dallas. They gave all the high school teams in the Metroplex free tickets and one of our kids will be skating during the ceremony. Very cool deal and another example of everything the stars have done for hockey here. It’s unbelievable. I wish I could show some fellow Canadians up north just how much hockey means in this state now. The number of rinks and teams is incredible. From High School hockey to travel teams to minor hockey. It has taken this state over. Not to the amplitude of football here but seriously our organization alone Keller has 3 teams and room for more! They pay their coaches and are all privately run by parents. They set up their own board of directors and run it just like a business. Ice time is not cheap and everything they pay for comes out of their pockets or from fundraising. No school help. Until next time...remember that a one-legged duck does swim in a circle.

Will Over Skill........Canada Takes Gold

http://www.tsn.ca/world_jrs/

Yes this was a team of young guys that were supposedly unproven. This is the beauty of Canadian Pride at its best. Take a team of young kids and throw in Brent Suter and look out. The Russians even talked trash leading up to the game about how historically they are a more skilled team. And that they should be able to dominate Canada. News Flash Russia 5-0 Canada! Last year it was 6-1 Canada. I know this is only the World Junior Hockey Championships but to me its a huge stepping stone for a Countries up and coming talents. I'm so tired of ESPN. This whole tournament wasn't even mentioned let alone covered. I really hope OLN can keep the NHL market and take ESPN forever out of the picture. So back to the game that I couldn't get on any TV channel so I had to call my dad and ask him to turn the game up loud so I could listen. There is a warm fuzzy feeling that is hard to describe when a Canadian team crushes the Russians. You are born into it and its not something that just happens overnight. As a kid in Canada you witness Canadian Teams playing the Russians at all levels and its the best effort you will ever see. My brother still talks about the time he played the Russians in a tounament. Proud day fellas! Proud day.

Blog what you will....

ery cool time of year..hunting is in the full swing of things..hockey is rockin..the world juniors start in a few weeks..olympic hopefuls will be picked soon..holiday drivers are 'ooo't and a'boat'..the married life is a dream come true..The high school team is struggling a little..paul called me yesterday and finally came out of the closet..Finished wiring the boat lights last night in preparation for the weekend..No Paul I can't go skiing this year for the five hundredth time..
Not sure what to think of Sid the kid speaking out about his teammates(yes you're good but watch yourself)....these are grown men that are professionals...you are good but still only 18..then the other half of me says good for him and way to be a leader...and really he leads by example as well.
Federov announces he won't play for Russia..HA! Who cares? You have six points all year and Russia doesn't need you..ok enough bagging on sergy. My brother and Brandi got a new dog and she's full of that puppy energy. Daisy is a yellow lab. That means Roxy and Sunny now have a new cous'h'in..Sunny has fully recovered from her little procedure...well actually the truth being she recovered the day after the surgery letting me know she was fine. I felt bad for her so I brought her kennel inside and put it in the kitchen..I laid a nice towel in it for her comfort and locked her up and left for work..3 hours later I came home to the towel destroyed and she had sh'a't all over the carpet and was laying on my bed! Back outside you are just fine!
